The question "how to begin a healthy plant-based nutrition" is difficult for most people. This diet is unusual and may sound weird for them. Information about whole grains, low fat and simple unprocessed foods is outside of the pattern.
So typical breakfast on a plant-based diet according to Andrew Freeman, MD, Cardiologist might look like a 100% whole grain bread with a fresh fruit, or fruit preserves.
Lunch might look like a 100% whole grain bread with peanut butter and vegetables.
At dinner it’s a time for brown rice, black beans and vegetables. You can mix them together using different condiments.
Of course it sounds easy but the first step toward implementing this diet is hard.
That’s why Andrew Freeman recommends to do some research: check with your doctor, check with your nutritionist, may be you need to read a nutrition book or even watch a movie. There are a lot of documentaries about this question available now.
I advice you to watch a video about famous vegans called "The game changers". You can find the link here.
If to discuss different books about healthy plant-based nutrition, to my opinion, one of the best books is "The China Study". You can buy it here.
According to the authors of this book you can dramatically reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes just by changing your diet.
This book is about the most comprehensive study were undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease. It’s about the danger of diet high in animal protein and proved benefits of a plant-based diet.
The main idea of this book coincides with the opinion of Andrew Freeman: the key to a long, healthy life lies in three things: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I’m sure you’ll definitely like many benefits from cutting down on meat and products with chemical ingredients. Plant foods have less saturated fat and usually fewer calories. Eating more plants means getting more of those good-for-you vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and fiber. Usually many people have a deficiency of these elements.
Our way to a healthy plant-based nutrition wasn’t simple too. But 3 years after changing a traditional diet to a healthy one, we received the following advantages:
So healthy plant-based diet is a good way to stay strong and healthy!
