If you want for something sweet but healthy, give this simple sugar-free (made with honey) halva recipe a try. You only need 4 ingredients and a little time for this tasty and nutritious dessert.
There are different types of halva, it depends on taste preferences. It can be made from tahini (sesame paste), sunflower seed, flaxseeds and include nuts, dried fruit and so on.
Our halva is a useful product because all ingredients in it are rich in various vitamins and minerals.
It is worth noting that usually traditional halva contains of sugar, so it’s not the healthiest choise. But our halva is made with honey, thus you can treat your family and yourself without any doubt. Of course it’s a vegan product.
If you want a raw halva, then you use raw seeds without a process of roasting.
The main ingredient in our recipe are sunflower seeds. Here is some information about their benefits: they are rich in healthy fats, fiber, vitamin E (antioxidant), B complex vitamins, which are essential for a healthy nervous system, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium, folate, selenium (antioxidant) and zinc.
These seeds can also help lower blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.
Ingredients:
Sunflowerseeds are better to use raw, but this time I slightly dried them in a pan. Remove 1/3 part of the seeds, we will add them at the end. Grind the rest of the seeds in a coffee grinder or a blender.
Put this powder in a deep bowl and add any kind of bran. Usually I add oat bran. But this time I used crushed flaxseed.
You can buy oat bran here.
Then add whole seeds, seed oil (I use raw flaxseed oil) and honey to this dry mix. You need to mix everything and put it in a bowl or a form covered with a plastic wrap. Press the mixture well with your fingers.
Put it in the fridge for some hours, then put halva on a plate and slice.
Enjoy with chicory or tea!
