We have a good practice of living in another country for 7 months. It was an excellent experience and a great pleasure. The climate in Sochi is similar to Cyprus climate. But in Cyprus summer is hotter and winter is warmer.
We lived in Limassol. It’s the second largest city on the island. The first one is Nicosia, the capital. As for me, Nicosia is not so interesting place to live, it’s a place to work and to do business. In Nicosia it is hotter in summer than in Limassol.
Limassol is the main tourist center and at the same time the most convenient city for families to live.
In Limassol you can find all you need for life: great number of splendid beaches, large shopping center MY MALL with more than 200 brands, supermarkets, grocery stores, hospitals, kindergartens, schools, children’s playgrounds, children’s entertainment centers, restaurants, cafes, sights, insurance companies, banks, etc.
If you plan to live in a Cyprus more than 3 months, than you need to do some procedures to receive a permission to stay. It’s so-called “pink slip”. In this case you need to communicate with a bank (we used Hellenic bank) and insurance company (we used Atlantic insurance company).
It was a great opportunity for me to practice my English during communication with stuff of the bank and the insurance company. You may not speak English in many places in Limassol because Cypriots try to practice their Russian and there are also a lot of Russians especially in tourist center called Germasogeia. We lived there.
Our flat had one bedroom, a big kitchen and a big hall. Total area apartment was of 90 square meters. There was a private swimming pool and parking in the yard. The rent of the flat was about 600 euro plus utility payments: light, water and internet. This payments are quite expensive on the island.
